Day 28 (Sunday) of 5k Training – The Final Week

Written on May 28, 2010 – 1:02 pm | by Adam Gomez

This is the final week before my 5k.  I’m running the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on June 5th – this Saturday! Aaack!!  I was kind of nervous when my race kit came in the mail, but I’ve finally convinced myself that this is my first 5k so I need to just relax and have fun.  My iBFF, Tazzee, is flying in on Friday night and I couldn’t be more excited!  In total, I will have 5 people running with me.  Or maybe I should say in front of me because they are waaaay faster. LOL  Either way, they are participating in the race to support ME.  How cool is that? Woot!

EXERCISE

Sunday was a rest day.

NUTRITION

Breakfast: 1 cup of Honey Nut Cheerios and 3/4 cup of no fat milk.

Lunch: I went to a Sunday matinee to see SATC2 with my girls and I knew we were dining out later, so I snacked on a handful of parmesan and basil flavored wheat thins and a wedge of laughing cow light swiss cheese.

Dinner: After the movie, we headed over to Carlyle for a late lunch/early dinner.  I had the Roast Chicken Salad that included roasted chicken, fresh corn, grape tomatoes, sun dried cranberries, dates, and goat cheese over a bed of romaine lettuce and baby spinach with a side of champagne vinaigrette.  It was yummy!  For dessert, I indulged BIG TIME!  I had the Warm White Chocolate Bread Pudding with bourbon custard sauce, vanilla ice cream and caramel.  It was warm, cold, sweet, and…OMG so heavenly!!!  Against the better judgment of my inner fat girl, I ate 1/2 and brought the other 1/2 home to BabyGirl.

Snacks: none other than those mentioned above.

Drink: water and 1 cosmo

FINAL WEEK PLAN

Here’s my planned workout/training schedule:

  • Sunday – rest
  • Monday – 3.5 mile run for endurance
  • Tuesday – strength train
  • Wednesday – 2 mile run
  • Thursday – rest
  • Friday – 1 mile run
  • Saturday – RACE DAY!!!!!!!!!!

My nutrition goal for the week is to continue what I’ve been doing and make small improvements each day.  My weight loss goal is to lose 1.5-2 lbs.  My overall goal for the week is to finish my first 5k and have fun!!
